A year long journey though the scriptures

On 28 March, members of our church community began a year-long journey though the whole. Reading a few chapters each day, we are seeking to understand more deeply the story of the Bible and our ongoing experience of God's revelation to humanity.

If you would like to join our journey, you can do so at any time. You can download a written leaflet here. Or you can check each day's reading here.

Ongoing support

You are not doing this alone. Throughout the year there are ongoing opportunities for support, conversation and encouragement, both in person and online.

There is a dedicated WhatsApp group and regular conversations. We also meet at least once a month in person and online to discuss the readings. Our next meetings are:

  • Monday, 15 June at 7:30 pm (at Putney) - in person
  • Tuesday, 16 June at 1:30 pm (at Barnes) - in person
  • Wednesday, 17 June at 7:30 pm (on Zoom) - online

We are also recording a series of short videos as we go through the year to help readers. You can access them on our Circuit You Tube page here.

We will also hold a special celebration event at Easter 2027 to mark the completion of the year.

Why read the Bible?

The Bible is the best‑selling book of all time and has shaped art, culture, politics and ideas for thousands of years. Many people recognise some of its stories and phrases, even if they are not sure where they come from.

Reading the Bible from start to finish helps us see the big picture. Instead of encountering isolated readings or famous verses, we begin to understand how the different books fit together and tell one unfolding story.

People who take part often say that reading the whole Bible:

  • helps familiar passages make more sense
  • reveals new and sometimes surprising ideas
  • encourages reflection on life, purpose, justice and love
  • offers fresh insight, whether or not you consider yourself religious

You don’t need to agree with everything you read. Curiosity and honesty are more important than certainty.
