Advent and Christmas

The joyful season of Advent, when we wait for the birth of Jesus Christ and his coming again in glory, is upon us again. We hope that you will have a happy and blessed time, however you spend it.

Carol Singalong

The best way to start the Advent season this year is with our wonderful Carol Singalong. The PMC Singers and friends have been rehearsing for months now, preparing for this free concert, celebrating the very best of Christmas music. There will be a retiring collection for the excellent Glass Door Homeless charity and wonderful refreshments afterwards. Come along and get into the swing of Christmas!

Journey of the Magi

We are delighted that the Springs Dance Company is coming back to Putney Methodist Church with their beautiful Christmas production 'Journey of the Magi'. The show offers a contemporary comparison between the journey the wise men took 2,000 years ago and our own preparations in the run up to Christmas today. With sparkle, a soundtrack to keep toes tapping and awe-inspiring dance, Journey of the Magi delights audiences of all ages. This is going to be a wonderful evening for everyone. You can book tickets here or buy them on the door.

Advent services

Please join us for any of our services during Advent and Christmas:

  • Sunday, 21 December - Carol Service (6:30 pm) A traditional service of carols and readings. We are delighted to be welcoming again members of the Putney & Wimbledon Brass Band, who will be leading our music, along with our own PMC Singers. It promises to be a wonderful evening. All are welcome.
  • Christmas Eve - Crib Service (4:00 pm) This service is very popular with many children and families: it's a gentle re-telling of the familiar story in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
  • Christmas Eve - Christmas Communion (11:30 pm) Traditionally, the first service of Christmas, we celebrate the coming of Jesus Christ with a simple service of holy communion. All are welcome to attend and participate.
  • Christmas Day - Family Service (10:30 am) A joyful service, suitable for all, led by our own minister, Rev'd Geoffrey Farrar.

Merry Christmas from all at Putney Methodist Church! Whatever you are doing this year, we hope that you will know something of the joy of the most precious gift of all: the gift of Jesus Christ, God's own son.
