Children and Messy Church
Children and families are always welcome at Putney Methodist
At present, we are not able to offer Junior Church every Sunday morning but we have a specially reserved area for children with books and activities, and have regular all-age worship services.
Messy Church
We also offer a monthly Messy Church at Putney on Sunday afternoons. Messy Church is a form of church for children and adults that involves creativity, celebration and hospitality. We meet at a different time to usual worship services, and is meant to be a warm and fun space for families. It’s designed to be an especially welcoming environment for those who don’t already go to church.
How does it work? Each session runs along the following lines. It is designed to be relaxed because we know that children don't work well to timetables! It takes place on Sunday afternoons:
- 3:30-4:00 pm - arrivals (board games and refreshments)
- 4:00-5:00 pm - craft and activities around a Bible theme or story
- 5:00-5:30 pm - time of celebration and worship
- 5:30 pm - simple family meal together (provided by us)
The whole afternoon is meant to be a relaxed and safe space for families to spend time together and develop their faith.
The next sessions are on:
- Sunday, 10 December (Jesus: Light of the World)
- Sunday, 21 January
- Sunday, 18 February
- Sunday, 17 March
- Sunday, 21 April
- Sunday, 19 May
- Sunday, 16 June
- Sunday, 14 July
- August - no meeting
Anyone is welcome to attend and there is no need to book in advance but if you would like more details, please just contact the Minister, Geoffrey.
